How do I promote this on Model Mayhem?

http://psychecorp.wordpress.com/2011/06/22/gen-really-really-needs-your-help-for-the-psyche-corp-music-video-this-summer/

I've never tried to do outreach for a film project/music video before.. I don't actually need models very badly because there are plenty of people I know who can be extras, and their BMIs don't really matter. What I need is people who know about pretty filming locations near NYC and places with reasonable to low to no filming permit fees.

Gen really really needs help.

This summer, I'm doing a bizarre, dark music video to be filmed mainly during weekends in July, and mainly in NYC but possibly in Philly as well. I REALLY need your savvy and help! My main problem right now is filming locations in NYC (or nearish to NYC), and my current residence in CT makes it really difficult for me to scout anything by myself. I'm praying to the powers of the internet that if this message spreads far enough, someone will know of a location I can use, or put me in contact with a person who does.

Overall, we need Locations, Actors/Actresses/Models/Dancers, and Volunteers. Can offer on-screen roles in the video, credit, and possibly other compensation to be discussed. LOCATIONS are most urgently needed.

LOCATIONS (Need to be legal, not death traps, and with power sources. Ideally cool-looking too, but I'll look at anything.):

(1) Room with a cool bathtub (clawfoot perhaps?). This one we really need soon, i.e. July 9-10. Ideally in NYC area. Any tips as to where I should look, who I should talk to, will go toward saving my ass. If it's a place I need to rent or pay a location fee for, still tell me.

(2) "Interrogation Room". We're thinking either someone's creepy Basement that they're willing to lend us, or a shed with power, or an office with a view (think last scenes of Fight Club).

(3) Long, narrow Hallway. Can also be long aisle between bathroom stalls, creating the impression of a Hallway, as long as this is a cool-looking location. Emphasize Long and/or narrow walkway/hallway.

(4) Cool-looking Doorway, not too wide. Can also be a theatrical stage with nice curtains that can be drawn apart to create a Doorway shaped opening.

(5) Regular kitchen with a stove, OR a large, pretty fireplace. If you're okay with letting us film in your kitchen for a couple hours, we would be incredibly grateful!!! A totally normal kitchen in NYC is JUST FINE.

(6) An out of the way sidewalk or alleyway in NYC where we're likely to be able to film undisturbed for a couple hours. Since I currently live in Connecticut, my ability to scout out locations in NYC or Philly in person is extremely limited, so I'm hoping to get help from kind natives. This is the one location that doesn't need power.

--------------------

ROLES (not counting Chubby Sweetie, because we have a couple of people on file for that already):

(1) The Villain - Child Abuser/Rapist/Killer who is captured by the ghosts of dead Innocents Betrayed.

(2) Need 3 or more dancers or actors to be Hand Monsters (Clad all in black except for Red Hands)

(3) Need ghosts of Innocents Betrayed

(4) Need young woman / Girl who may have to play a heroin addict

-------------------------

Volunteers needed: to be on food detail, help figure out where to acquire props, direct actors to the right locations, run errands, hold lights, move things, be extras, help with post-filming clean-up, and remotely to spread the word about our Kickstarter. There will likely be other things we need Volunteers for. Like to explain to me better ways to do fundraising, because this is all new to me..

Any help at all, even just re-posting this note, would mean the world to me.

Steampunk mask by Elena

Finally got a fun picture of the steampunk mask my friend Elena made. Original photo by Tyrus Flynn. Model: Psyche Corporation.

I believe Elena vends some of her things at various Steampunk events in Brooklyn such as Brooklyn Indie Market, and she works with Berit NY a lot. If you're interested in finding out if she can make something for you, let me know and I'll put her in touch :)

Edit, to clear up some concerns expressed to me about the photoshopping:
The photoshopping was all me, and I did it for kicks. If I were going to use it for some kind of promotional thingy it would not be like this. Do not think that Tyrus did this; he's a lot more subtle. He gave me permission to do random stuff to the photo though, for the following reason..

The photo is from a bunch of unedited photos from a shoot Tyrus did as a favor to me at Steampunk World's Fair because we were in the process of getting graphics to promote another event called Voyage to Dream Country. For the curious, a small image of the un-photoshopped version is below the cut along with the bigger version of the photoshopped pic.

internet powers, activate!

Okay, people. I need you to take this viral, and fast.

We know someone in upstate New York who needs a good custody lawyer ASAP. I'm not at liberty to go into details publicly, but this woman is very afraid that her abusive boyfriend is going to get sole custody of her young child.  She's presently being represented by a court-assigned lawyer who doesn't seem to care about the case, and she has very few resources left at this point. Her next hearing is on Thursday.

If you know a good lawyer in New York State who might be willing to take this case for a low fee or pro bono, or at least offer her advice or support, please let me know. If you don't know anyone, please repost this far and wide. As a mother and an abuse survivor, it makes me absolutely sick to my stomach to contemplate a child being left in the hands of an abuser.

I can be reached at kythryne@gmail.com if you have any leads or want to help.

The internet can work miracles. Let's go.

Edit, Tuesday afternoon: Huge, huge thanks to everyone who has signal-boosted, offered resources, emailed me, and otherwise been willing to help. Our friend is overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers. Amy and I are driving over to New York tomorrow afternoon so we can provide support in person, and we are working on plans to help our friend and her daughter get back on their feet once the custody case is over.

(If you would be interested in donating an item or service to a fundraising auction in the near future, please let me know. Our friend is a talented artist and a wonderful mother to a beautiful little girl who deserves a safe home, and it wouldn't take much to make a huge difference in their lives.)
